Imagine you are sitting at my table while I work. Just watch and listen. I want you to see how much fun it is to explore printing and painting with dye. Take away what interests you and go from there.
I designed my demonstrations to give you a deeper understanding than you may already have of how Procion dyes work and how to manage your results. The lessons may answer some questions and help you make choices: which colors to mix, how much moisture, the viscosity of the print mix, the type of tools, the fabric characteristics, and the way you layer the colors. Each lesson builds on earlier information.
- Use the printable Handouts with all the recipes you will need.
- Use the Lesson Overview as a resource: it has details of colors, tools, techniques. It also reviews the concepts, gives studio tips, and offers practice activities.
- View the Gallery for each lesson to see more details and possibilities related to my demonstrations.
- After you finish one or more of the videos, continue pursuing your own interests in surface design on fabric.
- Use the downloadable document of Chapter 12, Questions and Answers from Color by Design: Paint and Print with Dye to see answers to commonly asked questions.
